What is Laxfest?

Laxfest is an annual fundraiser benefiting the Conestoga boys and girls lacrosse teams as well as The Pete Kienzle Fighting Back Scholarship Program. This one-day event is volunteer led and brings together boys and girls youth lacrosse teams from around the area to play in a short Round-Robin Format.

What is the Pete Kienzle Fighting Back Scholarship Fund?

Pete Kienzle is long remembered for his leadership and contribution to the local lacrosse community. Peter played lacrosse and football at Conestoga. After graduating from the University of Delaware, Peter returned to the area, married his wife Amy and raised two lacrosse-loving girls, Amelia and Piper. In 2012, Peter was diagnosed with cancer. After a hard fought two years, Peter passed away in December 2014 leaving behind a legacy of commitment to community lacrosse.

An endowment has been set up in Peter’s name that will provide partial scholarships to individuals in the Fighting Back Program. These will pay for one-on-one exercise rehabilitation sessions once a week for one year for two individuals who exemplify Peter’s fighting spirit, and never quit attitude. One of these scholarships will go to a veteran, and the other to a civilian.

How can I volunteer for Laxfest?

The Conestoga Boys generally oversee the morning portion of the day. There are many opportunities for both Junior Varsity and Varsity players to coach, ref and assist with set up for the program. Parents are needed to assist with registration and snack bar sales as well as donate food and drink items to be sold at the event. We hope you will consider getting involved with this year’s event!
